Intense Competition at National Bridge League
The vibrant city center along Kampala Road came alive on 26th October 2024, as Victoria University hosted the thrilling conclusion of the UBF National Bridge League. The fourth and final round was a spectacle of skill, strategy, and high-stakes competition, as 20 boards were played with maximum concentration and expert bidding techniques.
The top two pairs weren’t just competing for glory but also for a chance to represent Uganda at the forthcoming East Africa Bridge Championship scheduled for 11th December 2024 in Nairobi, Kenya.
After a day of intense play, the pair of Moni Justine and Rebecca Mirembe emerged victorious, accumulating an impressive 390 match points. Hot on their heels were Genza Joseph and Sebuufu Andrew, who secured second place with 375 match points. The pair of Alex Lubandi and Asiimwe Rebecca finished a close third, just two match points behind the second pair.
The top two pairs, now qualified to compete in the East Africa Bridge Championship, are set to begin preparations in November, aiming to showcase their prowess on a regional stage.
The final round of the UBF National Bridge League was not just a competition but a celebration of the intellectual and strategic depth of bridge. As the league concluded, all eyes are now on the future, anticipating even greater achievements and thrilling matches in the upcoming season.
